THE HOME BEYOND
by HELEN STEINER RICE
WE FEEL SO SAD WHEN THOSE WE LOVE
ARE CALLED TO LIVE IN THE HOME ABOVE.
BUT WHY SHOULD WE GRIEVE WHEN THEY SAY GOOD-BYE
AND GO TO DWELL IN A CLOUDLESS SKY?
FOR THEY HAVE BUT GONE TO PREPARE THE WAY,
AND WE'LL MEET THEM AGAIN SOME HAPPY DAY,
FOR GOD HAS TOLD US THAT NOTHING CAN SEVER
A LIFE HE CREATED TO LIVE ON FOREVER.
SO LET GOD'S PROMISE SOFTEN OUR SORROW
AND GIVE US NEW STRENGTH FOR A BRIGHTER TOMORROW.
I WRITE THESE THINGS TO YOU WHO BELIEVE
IN THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD SO THAT YOU
MAY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.
THIS IS THE CONFIDENCE WE HAVE IN APPROACHING GOD:
THAT IF WE ASK ANYTHING ACCORDING TO HIS WILL,
HE HEARS US.
1 JOHN 5:13-14
NIV
BUT MAY ALL WHO SEEK YOU REJOICE
AND BE GLAD IN YOU;
MAY THOSE WHO LOVE YOUR SALVATION ALWAYS SAY,
"THE LORD BE EXALTED!"
PSALM 40:16
NIV
THE ONE THING I WANT FROM GOD,
THE THING I SEEK MOST OF ALL, IS THE
PRIVILEGE OF MEDITATING IN HIS TEMPLE,
LIVING IN HIS PRESENCE EVERY DAY OF
MY LIFE, DELIGHTING IN HIS INCOMPARABLE
PERFECTIONS AND GLORY.
PSALM 27:4
TLB
BUT I WILL SING OF YOUR POWER;
YES, I WILL SING ALOUD OF YOUR
MERCY IN THE MORNING;
FOR YOU HAVE BEEN MY DEFENCE
AND REFUGE IN THE DAY OF MY TROUBLE.
PSALM 59:16
NKJV
FOR YOU ARE MY HIDING PLACE;
YOU PROTECT ME FROM TROUBLE.
YOU SURROUND ME WITH SONGS OF VICTORY.
PSALM 32:7
NLT
GUARD MY SOUL AND DELIVER ME;
DO NOT LET ME BE ASHAMED,
FOR I TAKE REFUGE IN THEE.
PSALM 25:20
NAS
